The British Society of Enamellers has a broad membership, encompassing levels of expertise from enamel students to professional level enamellers. Our aim is to promote the highest standards of contemporary design and workmanship in all aspects of this unique and exciting medium. UK based, the BSOE has international connections and offers exhibition opportunities, bursaries, an online gallery, workshops and events for its members.

Aims of the Society

The objective of our Society is to promote excellence in British enamelling and professional enamellers working in this country and abroad. The BSOE aims to keep members and other interested bodies informed of our exhibitions and publications of interest, including a close co-operation with other international enamel organisations.

The BSOE organises meetings, workshops and exhibitions in this country and where possible, supports participation in exhibitions abroad.

To find out more about the history of the society and studio enamelling in Britain read Dr. Elizabeth Goring’s essay here.

Membership

The British Society of Enamellers is open to any interested parties. Once you’re a member you will be able to put work forward for our selected exhibitions, participate in workshops, and receive email letters informing you of forthcoming events, members’ news, new articles, tips and questions that have appeared on our website, and the BSOE forum, where we discuss the forthcoming issues and opportunities for the society.

Membership is by application, and is open to anyone throughout the world who is interested in the aims of our Society. Participation in our exhibitions and in our website gallery is by selection, with a strong emphasis on original design in conjunction with technical competence in the medium of enamel.
