To me jewellery should be a work of art and not just an ornament. When I make a piece of jewellery I hope it will be displayed when it is not being worn. To achieve this I try to make it three-dimensional – with plenty of movement, either in shape or in construction.
I use transparent enamels on metal which has been engraved, textured or carved to give extra depth to the work. Enamels have such glowing colours that other media seem dull by comparison. Enamels can attract, shock, appeal or repel. They can blend beautifully together or clash in a most exciting way. I like to experiment with various techniques to achieve different effects.
Nature is a never-ending inspiration to me.
