Linda Connelly
Linda Connelly is a multi award winning enamel artist who is inspired by memories and landscape. She loves to create unique and colourful pieces of enamel art with a narrative, bringing memories to life in jewellery, bowls and small panels. We are all made up of stories and remembered moments of time and place. Reminding ourselves of these moments can help to enrich our lives. Linda’s latest work derives from walking and drawing in landscapes both here in the UK and abroad. Her work is inspired by her memories of special places and comprises basse-taille enamel on silver with cloisonné details. She uses transparent enamels like watercolours, building up thin veils of tiny touches of colour over hand engraved silver, often with painted cloisonné enamel birds flying overhead. They have evolved from walking and drawing in the landscape that inspires them. This new work originated from spending time in Rye, East Sussex and North Norfolk, walking along the coast and over the marshes, looking up at the big skies and watching the abundant birdlife. They arose from a desire to bring something of that home and to be able to wear and hold it at any time. These pieces are rooted in the landscape and have grown out of a wish to be reminded of her love of being there. Linda’s work is beautifully made and finely finished. Each piece evolves over a succession of firings, typically anything from six to a dozen or more, although each one only lasts a minute or two. Linda welcomes commissions and will be delighted to discuss with you the designing and making of a special piece, maybe one that remembers a place that is important to you.
