MUD METAL OIL Exhibition
Côme Roumegoux and Jem O’Carroll will be showing at Centrespace Gallery, Bristol as part of the MUD METAL OIL exhibition.
MUD METAL OIL, Centrespace Gallery, 6 Leonard Lane, Bristol, BS1 1EA
22-27 May 2026 12-6pm
Private view 22 May 6-10pm
MUD METAL OIL brings together a dynamic group of local artists at different stages of their creative journeys, from students and emerging practitioners to established makers. Spanning contemporary fine art and craft, the exhibition celebrates a rich diversity of skill, material, and perspective.
The title MUD METAL OIL gestures toward the tactile and transformative nature of artistic practice. While each artist works in their own way, their approaches share a deep commitment to process, exploration, and expression.
By uniting these varied practices under one roof, the exhibition seeks to bridge perceived divides between artistic fields. In doing so, it reflects the strength and beauty that emerge when differences are embraced, demonstrating how individual voices can come together to form a powerful collective whole.

The Bursary Award
One of the core principles at the BSOE is to support the practices of both emerging and professional enamellers. As part of our endeavour to make enamelling a viable craft profession we annually sponsor The Guild of Enamellers bursary award. We highly encourage those wishing to delvelop their practice to apply for the award which is worth approximately £100 and offers many opportunities from both the guild, other sponsors and ourselves The British Society of Enamellers.
We offer all applicants, successful or not, free BSOE membership. For more information please email us at news@enamellers.org
2026 Bursary Winner: Côme Roumegoux
The BSOE is proud to sponsor the Guild of Enamellers annual bursary award. In 2026, the Guild selected Côme Roumegoux for this honour.
Côme Roumegoux Statement of Work
My practice combines the immediacy of graffiti with the precision and luminosity of copper enamelling, exploring themes of chaos, control, and transformation through richly layered surfaces.
Rooted in my experience within the underground graffiti scene, the work reflects a personal journey of recovery and reinvention. The processes of layering, firing, and refining have become meditative, transforming fragments of the past into something enduring.
By bridging street-based visual language with fine craftsmanship, my work brings together spontaneity and permanence within contemporary enamel practice.
