Tamizan Savill
1957 - 2022
In the 1980s Tamizan was working in South London with youth groups, setting up sound studios. She went on to set up sound studios in Birmingham and Coventry but by 1990 she was in Bristol where she attended classes in jewellery making and enamelling. This changed her life and career path. Tamizan was taught by Jessica & Elizabeth Turrell.
Tamizan became a Director of ACJ in 2007, becoming its chief executive. She also did administrative work for Contemporary British Silversmiths.
She became a member of the BSOE and served on both the executive committee and the Selection committee. She was most proud of the Enamoured exhibition which she organised for the BSOE in 2016 - 2017
Her work involved layering colours over hand engraved sterling silver, to produce a range of jewellery and small boxes.
